Once you complete the difficult task of finding your gown, it’s usually smooth sailing from there. However, the accessories to compliment and complete your overall look is often times what can present a road block.
At The White Box, we value the wedding accessories of an outfit very highly! To help you with these little but important extras, we’ve provided 5 tips of inspiration to help jazz up your outfit. Check it out below:
Veil: The decision to purchase (or rent) one veil over another really boils down to how much you want to spruce up or soften the look of your wedding dress. From length and material to trims and embellishment, the options are endless. Here are a few tips to help you make your decision:
- Determine the length; Shorter veils tend to lend a bit more personality as well as an informal or retro edge, while longer veils lean more towards the traditional and formal route.
- Choose the color: Aim to match the color of the veil to your wedding gown. If you don’t plan on buying your veil at the time of your gown, bring a swatch of fabric from your dress.
- Choose the design: If your gown is heavily decorated, your veil should typically be clean and simple with minimal extras. However, a simple, streamlined gown opens the door to be a bit more adventurous.
- Envision your hairstyle: How do you plan on wearing your hair? The style you choose may reflect your final veil decision. Halo veils, mantilla veils and bridal caps work best if your hair is down or in a low updo, while bird cages and blushers are more versatile and can be worn with any hairstyle.
Hair piece: No matter what hairstyle you choose to go for, adding embellishments can create a real “wow” factor to your overall look. Hair combs or decorated barrettes, which come in a variety of styles and colors, are among some of our favorites. If your wedding is more on the traditional and classical side, a rhinestone tiara may be worth considering! For a more whimsical and bohemian look, try adding feathers or flowers to your hair.
Lingerie: Your gorgeous wedding gown can easily be compromised if the wrong undergarments are worn. While not as exciting as finding your dream dress, bras and underwear are crucial foundation pieces. The last thing you want to happen on your big day are any visible straps, lumps or lines. Use your first dress fitting to learn what type of lingerie works best and ask the sales associate for tips and advice on finding the perfect combination.
Statement Jewels: The most important wedding accessories for the leading lady at any wedding is the jewelry; nothing will compliment your dress better! Ornate statement necklaces, bracelets or earrings are all glamorous ways to add a touch of elegance and detail to your gown. If you’re wearing a strapless dress, go with a statement necklace. If your hair will be in an updo, pick eye catching earrings, and if your arms are exposed, choose an impressionable bracelet.
Clutch: You’ll thank your later self for investing in a killer clutch on your wedding day! While it’s true you’ll have your bridesmaids to carry your lip gloss or cater to what you need, it’s always a good idea to carry your own belongings as well for backup. And let’s be honest, every amazing outfit isn’t complete without a killer bag by its’ side! We love the idea of pairing a sparkly bag with a dress adorned with a touch of jewel-encrusted accents. The clutch will enhance your down instead of drowning out the details.
